Glenlee Actuators
Project
AJT were contracted to carry out the complete engineering design to install two Rotork Actuators on 2no 6ft Dia Butterfly Valves. These Butterfly Valves are used as the main point of isolation for the power station. These butterfly valves were manually operated and to open both these butterfly valves, this would take a considerable amount of time and over the years both valves were getting increasingly harder to operate by hand and getting to the point that it was becoming more difficult to operate
Carry out a laser survey onsite to model up both valves so could process all information taking from site come up with a design on how to support the new Rotork Actuators with the amount of torque they would need to operate Both IQ35 Rotork Actuators were supplied by Rotork and installed onsite by AJT.
New shafts were made up and machined in house to suit the existing valve and the new Rotork drive nut. With the installation of both Rotork’s and after commissioning, each valve now opens in 1 minute and 35 seconds
